Hmm, well I'm glad I'm just blogging to myself so far since I'm failing the picture test. BUT! You know what? I have a fancy phone and really I could use that when all else fails - I just need to remember to plate and picture. Last weekend was a frenzy of kitchen work For the upcoming ski trip that starts today I made the following:
Peanut Butter Cookies
Chocolate Chip and Walnut cookies
2 (yes 2!) types of check mix
a huge (not an understatement) pan of Lasagna
In addition I made a lovely vegetable soup that I've been enjoying. Saturday's dinner was yummy: Roasted Salmon with Sesame Broccoli and a lentil brown rice pilaf. I've been playing with this pilaf and I just love it, I need to write down the recipe next time so I can really share. My husband love it, of course a little pancetta goes a long way with a man.... For dessert we had an Apple Cherry Crisp plain for me, with ice cream for Joe. The crisp was wonderful with unrefined/unbleached sugar the perfect hearty flavor. I really find I prefer that flavor to refined sugar, which is a good thing! :)

Dinner from Hubby
Joe made dinner tonight, which was nice to have it done when I got home from Yoga class. Elk burgers and sweet potato fries - have to say it was pretty yummy. Maybe I'll try to remember to use the camera this weekend, since I'll actually be home and cooking!

Brussel Sprouts
Well I had good intentions of taking a picture of my excellent dinner, but my husband seems to have taken the camera on his work trip. If I'm going to do this, I'll have to figure out that camera thing.
When I'm alone for dinner it's a sure bet there is going to be whole grains and probably roasted vegetables involved. I made a pilaf of bulgur and lentils. Put in a handful of chopped fresh parsley and topped it with a roasted mix of brussel sprouths, onions, and garlic. Yumm! I am lucky to have a husband that is not picky but Brussel Sprouts are one of the things that aren't on his favorite list so I take advantage of his trips.

First Post
Am I a blogger? I don't know, but for some strange reason I have the desire to try. Expect posts about skiing, and outdoor activities; about Yoga and my desire to be a centered healthy person; and about food. Especially food. I love to cook! The kitchen is my happy place which seems to make other people happy also. Will I get used to taking pictures? We'll find out!
